The Journey to Excellence National Launch Print E-mail

Learning Curve is proud to announce the national launch of The Journey to Excellence - a major new resource for all educational professionals in Scotland.

Between April 2006 and September 2007 Learning Curve worked in partnership with Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Education to create a unique resource, which focuses on excellence in Scotland’s schools. We filmed in a large number of primary, secondary, special and nursery schools in order to explore the meaning of excellence in aspects such as:

  • Learning
  • Leadership
  • Working in Partnership
  • Ambition
  • Empowerment

This resulted in the creation of the Journey to Excellence web site, which contains 350 movies portraying features of excellence in Scottish schools. We also filmed interviews with leading educationalists such as Dylan Wiliam, Stephen Heppell, David Perkins and Edward de Bono who provided information and advice about some of the latest developments in learning and teaching. The web site also contains research summaries and other documents that support the continuing professional development of school staff.

At the national launch in Edinburgh, Fiona Hislop, Scotland's new Minister for Education, described The Journey to Excellence as a ‘world class resource’.
