Game on for Learning (Red Herring - Herald and Post)

An interactive computer game designed by West Lothian Council to help students learn foreign languages is to be sent to every secondary school in Scotland.
After being developed in partnership with the Scottish Executive, the game Red Herring is to be used in schools across the country in a bid to help students learn how to speak French and German.
The CD-Rom game, which enables pupils to interact with computer characters speaking the foreign languages, is designed by West Lothian Council’s Education Services and Learning Curve Software Ltd in a bid to make learning a language a more enjoyable experience for pupils.

MSP UNVEILS NEW WEBSITE FOR CARE KIDS
Service will provide vital information for children

A pioneering interactive service for young people in care has been launched across West Lothian.
Room2b is and interactive CD and website for looked-after children aged between eight and eighteen.
It provides information through video presentation and text by young people, on all aspects of their lives, along with interactive features such as a health planner, budget planner and a variety of information on education and employment.
The system, which can also be used by those who have just left are, was unveiled by Mary Mulligan MSP, deputy minister for social justice.

ob Wall To Help Pupils On The Path to a A Career
SCHOOL leavers lacking confidence in West Lothian stand a better chance of landing a job thanks to a new computerised "job wall" scheme revealed today.
The job wall software asks pupils questions about their interests to come up with different career categories and features video clips of real-life West Lothian workers to help teenagers decide on a career.
