The job wall is part of an interactive computer programme called The Works, offering a range of easy-access information on jobs, including interview technique tips and letter writing.
It is being sent to all West Lothian secondary schools thanks to a £40,000 social inclusion award from the Scottish Executive. Organisers hope it will eventually go nationwide.
Pupils at St Margaret’s Academy in Livingston have already reaped the benefits at interviews with manufacturing firm Ethicon. They demonstrated the job wall system to Deputy Social Justice Minister Margaret Curran when she launched it at the school today.
Mairi Soutar, Social Inclusion Partnership West Lothian co-ordinator, said: "It takes people through the process of jobhunting, from thinking about what kind of career they are interested in to applying for jobs and having interviews."
The scheme will also be targeted at homeless people and older jobseekers. Launching the scheme today, Ms Curran said: "Access to jobs depends on employability.
"Guidance and support are vital and we must ensure that our young people are prepared."
